39th Annual Storytelling Festival – Liars Contest

About This Event

The Liars Contest kicks off the 39th Annual Storytelling Festival at The Ark.

What to Expect

• 1.Expect tall tales with witty twists and audience-friendly antics; the Liars Contest is built on misdirection and punchlines—stay sharp and listen for the zingers.
• 2.The Ark’s intimate listening space makes the stories feel close, so arrive early to grab a good seat and soak in the festival atmosphere.
• 3.The crowd tends to be warm and engaged; laugh along and applaud after each storyteller, while keeping conversations quiet during performances.
• 4.Downtown Ann Arbor parking can be tight, so plan to arrive early or use nearby transit options; there are plenty of cafes and eateries within walking distance for a pre- or post-show bite.
• 5.If you’re new to storytelling events, this is a great intro—expect a range of tones and styles, and consider checking out more of the festival lineup if you enjoy the night.
