Astronomy at Night
Hawk Woods Park and Campground
Nature Preserve3799 Bald Mountain Road, Auburn Hills, MI 48326
About This Event
Join us for an evening of stargazing and astronomical discovery at Hawk Woods Nature Park.
What to Expect
- 1.Bring binoculars if you have them, but you can still enjoy the night sky without equipment. Stargazing is often more about patience and spotting details than constant action.
- 2.Dress warmer than you think you need to. Temperatures drop quickly after sunset, and standing still outside gets chilly.
- 3.Give your eyes time to adjust to the dark, and keep phone brightness low so you do not spoil your own or anyone else's night vision.
- 4.Clouds can change what is visible, so check the forecast before heading out and be ready for the viewing to depend on the weather.
- 5.Arrive with enough time to park and find the group before it gets fully dark. A small flashlight can help on the paths, ideally with a red-light setting.
