Concert of Colors: Miles From India

About This Event

An East Indian musical celebration of Miles Davis, featuring a global ensemble of jazz and Indian classical musicians.

What to Expect

• 1.You'll be seated in the Detroit Institute of Arts space listening to a jazz and Indian classical fusion performed by a global ensemble.
• 2.Miles From India will reinterpret Miles Davis tunes with Indian classical textures, so expect intricate improvisation and cross cultural conversations in the music.
• 3.Arrive early to park near the Detroit Institute of Arts and find your seat as museum spaces can fill up and security lines can slow you down.
• 4.Dress smart casual but comfortable since the DIA concerts are refined but not stuffy.
• 5.Food and drinks are often not allowed in the performance area at the DIA; plan to eat before or after, or use the museum cafe if available.
• 6.If this is your first cross cultural jazz show at the DIA, keep an open mind; you might hear familiar Miles Davis melodies transformed in a new way.
