Detroit Chinatown Block Party
About this event
The second annual Chinatown Block Party hosted by the Detroit Chinatown Vision Committee, featuring food, culture, and community activities.
What to Expect
- 1.You'll see food stalls, cultural demonstrations, and community booths around the Welcome to Detroit Chinatown kiosk on Cass Avenue. Take your time wandering and try a few bites at different vendors.
- 2.The crowd is friendly and busy, so strike up a quick conversation with a vendor or volunteer if you feel like it. Most people are happy to chat about their dishes or culture.
- 3.Food lines can get long around lunchtime, so consider arriving around 12 or later or in the mid afternoon. Bring cash for many vendors and a small reusable bag for samples.
- 4.Logistics wise, use public transit or rideshare to limit parking stress because the event is centered at the kiosk and surrounding sidewalks. The event runs 12 to 8 pm so plan for a few hours.
- 5.If you are new to this, arrive early to grab a map and choose a couple must visit booths. You will likely meet neighbors and makers.
