Detroit Jazz Festival

About This Event

The world's largest free jazz festival featuring global jazz luminaries and rising stars in downtown Detroit.

What to Expect

• 1.Hart Plaza is huge and spread out with several stages along the riverfront, so plan your top acts and stake out a viewing spot early.
• 2.The crowd is diverse and energetic but not pushy; if you want a calmer moment, wander toward the river edge or a shaded corner between sets.
• 3.Food trucks and snack vendors will be around the plaza, so bring cash for quick bites and carry water to stay hydrated.
• 4.Public transit is your friend in downtown Detroit and parking can be tight, so consider rideshare or walking from nearby garages; bring a light jacket for the evening and sunscreen for the daytime.
• 5.Since the festival is free and open to all, arrive early to avoid bottlenecks and use the schedule to discover artists you might fall in love with.
