OPEN MIC: Art In A Fly Space

About This Event

An open mic night for artists to showcase their talents in a creative space.

What to Expect

• 1.Arrive a bit early to sign up and test your mic in the Detroit Shipping Company bar space; signup sheets often fill up and you want a moment to hear the room before you go on.
• 2.Keep your set tight and punchy; most open mic slots run short, around 2 minutes, so practice a compact piece.
• 3.The bar crowd can be chatty, so project your voice and start strong to grab attention quickly.
• 4.Plan for the bar vibe and logistics; you'll likely be in a casual, cash-friendly environment, so order a drink early and tip the staff.
• 5.If you are new, watch a few acts first to read the room and learn the local pace, then step up when you feel ready.
