Outdoor Discovery Camp
About this event
A summer camp program for children to explore nature and participate in outdoor activities.
What to Expect
- 1.Get ready for a day of hands-on nature stations, scavenger hunts, and kid-friendly explorations around Oakland County Parks; expect lots of moving from one activity to the next. Wear sturdy shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen because you'll be outside almost the whole time.
- 2.The crowd is families with young explorers, so it tends to be welcoming and relaxed; kids will wander from activity to activity guided by volunteers and staff.
- 3.On logistics, plan to park at the park and check in at the designated area near the Watkins Lake Road entrance. The day runs 9:00 to 15:00, so bring water, snacks, and a light bag for nature finds.
- 4.Food and beverages there usually aren't full meals provided, so pack snacks and a water bottle. Look for picnic spots if you want to eat on-site, and use restrooms as needed.
- 5.For first-timers, ask staff about the day's schedule and where each activity starts; label belongings and consider bringing a small camera to capture memories without getting in the way.
