Could your family survive outdoors in the winter? Learn how to build a fire, make a temporary shelter, and other important cold-weather skills! Ages 8+ welcome! Event meets in the Courtyard...
What to Expect
- 1.Dress in warm layers and waterproof boots; winter weather can change fast, so bring a hat, gloves, and extra socks.
- 2.It's hands-on: you'll practice fire-building, shelter construction, and other cold-weather skills. Keep an eye on the kids and follow the instructor's safety guidelines.
- 3.The vibe is family-friendly and educational, so expect questions and plenty of small-group demos rather than wall-to-wall action.
- 4.Plan logistics: arrive a bit early for check-in at the Courtyard; parking is around the nature center, and restrooms may be limited outdoors.
- 5.Bring water and light snacks; there may not be full concessions, and hands-on activities can be chilly—packing a thermos or warm drink for afterward helps.
