What to Expect
- 1.Plan to arrive a little early for check-in at the ReStore Southfield; there’s a quick safety briefing and project sign‑ups, and you’ll want to find parking in the Telegraph Road lot.
- 2.Dress for hands-on work—closed-toe shoes, long pants, and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty; gloves and safety gear are usually provided, but bring a light jacket if it’s chilly inside.
- 3.You’ll hear about the Women Build season and be matched with a beginner-friendly build task; don’t worry if you’re new—staff can explain what you’ll be doing and how you can contribute.
- 4.The crowd is very neighborly and collaborative—use the kickoff to meet other volunteers, swap tips, and maybe team up with a friend or neighbor.
- 5.Bring water and a snack; there may be refreshments, but it isn’t guaranteed, and the event runs late, so plan for a longer evening.
