What to Expect

• 1.Arrive 20-30 minutes early to find your seat and skim the program notes so you know what to expect during the performance.
• 2.Dress smart casual; the Detroit Opera House vibe is refined but not stuffy, so leave overly casual wear at home.
• 3.Turn off or silence your phone and minimize chatter so you can fully hear the orchestra and singers without distractions.
• 4.Intermission details vary by production, so check the program for length and plan a quick restroom or concession visit if needed.
• 5.If it’s your first opera, surtitles and unfamiliar arias can be part of the experience—look for a moment you connect with and follow along.
