What to Expect
- 1.Arrive a few minutes early to check in at the Boll Family YMCA and settle in at the barre; you’ll want a quick space to set up since equipment is provided.
- 2.Wear snug athletic wear and shoes aren’t required for barre—most people go barefoot or in grip socks, and you’ll be using your feet a lot.
- 3.All levels are welcome, so don’t worry if it’s your first time; the instructor will offer modifications to scale the moves to your ability.
- 4.Expect precise, small movements and longer holds that really target the core and legs; you’ll likely feel the burn in a good way and leave with better balance.
- 5.Bring a water bottle and a small towel; be mindful of locker room etiquette and wipe down the barre if the gym asks you to; space at the barre can be busy, so give others their turn.
