Basic Blacksmithing Level 1
About This Event
Learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing in this hands-on introductory course at the Village forge.
What to Expect
- 1.This is a hands-on introduction, so expect to learn by watching demonstrations and trying basic techniques at the forge rather than just hearing a talk.
- 2.Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dusty or marked. Avoid loose sleeves and dangling jewelry around hot metal and tools.
- 3.You will likely spend time standing near a hot forge, so bring water and be ready for a warm, physically active session.
- 4.Arrive a little early to check in and get oriented at the museum. Ask the instructor what safety gear is provided and whether you should bring anything.
- 5.It is a beginner course, so you do not need prior blacksmithing experience. Listen closely to safety instructions before handling tools or hot metal.
