What to Expect
- 1.Arrive early to park and check in—Meadow Brook’s lot can fill up, and you’ll want time to chat with shelters before the crowd grows.
- 2.Bring a leash, collar, a crate or carrier, and copies of your ID and proof of address; have a plan for where a new pet would live and who will care for them.
- 3.Visit multiple booth areas, talk with shelter reps, and ask about each animal’s needs, history, and the adoption process; bring a notebook to jot quick notes.
- 4.Pack water for you and for any dog that might tag along, and expect sun and heat; look for shaded areas and pet water stations; there may be food trucks, so plan meals accordingly.
- 5.If you don’t meet a perfect match, ask about volunteering, fostering, or future adoption events—there are often sign-ups on-site.
