What to Expect
- 1.Plan to arrive early to snag a good viewing spot at Campus Martius Park for the 7:30–9:00 pm kickoff; downtown traffic can be heavy, so give yourself extra time to park and walk in.
- 2.This is a community ALS awareness ceremony with a respectful, family-friendly vibe; there will be moments of reflection before the lighting ceremony, so come prepared to observe as well as participate.
- 3.Food and drink options are nearby downtown Detroit; check if there are on-site concessions and bring water or snacks if needed.
- 4.Public transit is convenient to Campus Martius; if you drive, use paid parking garages nearby and expect foot traffic as crowds flow in and out.
- 5.Bring layers for cool May evenings and consider a small blanket or portable chair for comfort; comfortable shoes help on the park’s surfaces.
