June Jubilee: Gather, Reflect, Celebrate

About This Event

A senior-focused Juneteenth celebration featuring live storytelling, book giveaways, guided park shuttle tours, a live band, and crafts.

What to Expect

• 1.Arrive a bit early to grab a seat for the storytelling and the live band, and to see the book giveaways before they run out.
• 2.If mobility or seating is a concern, use the Activity Center’s accessible entrances and ask volunteers where the best seating is; there are likely designated spots for seniors.
• 3.Bring a water bottle, wear comfortable shoes, and dress for Michigan weather since part of the day involves park shuttle tours and outdoor moments.
• 4.Head to the crafts area early to snag a project and a takeaway; there are crafts and activities for all ages, but supplies can run out as the day goes on.
• 5.Park and building directions can be a maze if you’re not familiar with the center—check in with volunteers near the entrance, and use the shuttle tour times to plan your route around the event.
• 6.If you’re excited about the books, plan your day around the giveaways and storytelling slots, and consider bringing a friend to share in the activities.
