What to Expect
- 1.Arrive around 5pm to catch the opening program and mingle with UNWLA volunteers; there’ll likely be embroidery displays and a quick welcome from organizers.
- 2.Wear or admire Vyshyvanka—the embroidery is the centerpiece—so bring a camera and don't be shy about asking locals about the patterns.
- 3.Food and drinks from YORK will be available; you’ll want to pace yourself between demonstrations, and bring cash or a card for easy ordering.
- 4.Parking on Packard Street is limited after 5pm—consider rideshare or public transit; street parking can be hit or miss, so give yourself extra time.
- 5.If you’re new, seek out UNWLA volunteers to learn about the organization and how proceeds support Ukrainian communities; there may also be small crafts or items for sale.
