What to Expect

• 1.You’ll meet several adoptable dogs from Detroit Animal Care and Control inside the Troy PetSmart, so dog personalities will range from outgoing to shy—give each one time to come to you.
• 2.Bring a calm, patient approach and talk to the volunteers about each dog’s temperament and needs before deciding.
• 3.If you’re serious about adopting, be prepared to fill out an application on-site; consider having any necessary contact information handy to speed things up.
• 4.The event is in a retail environment, so expect aisles, shopping noise, and steady foot traffic—keep kids supervised and avoid over-stimulating the dogs.
• 5.If you’re not ready to adopt, ask about fostering or volunteering opportunities to help dogs while you decide.
