Medea by Euripides
About this event
Oakland University School of Music, Theatre and Dance presents a production of the classic Greek tragedy Medea.
What to Expect
- 1.Plan extra time for parking and finding Varner Hall on Oakland University's campus. Campus traffic can be busy before curtain, so give yourself a buffer and use campus maps to locate the entrance.
- 2.Medea is a heavy, thought provoking tragedy with intense themes. A quick peek at a synopsis or the program notes before you go will help you follow the story and motivations without getting lost in the language.
- 3.Varner Hall is a university theatre space, so seating is comfortable but not over the top. Try to grab a center section seat if you can because expressions and blocking read best from the middle.
- 4.It's wise to check the program for run time and whether there's an intermission. If you need a quick bathroom break or a sip of water, plan accordingly so you don't miss important moments.
- 5.Keep phones silent and be mindful of theatre etiquette; you're in a classroom art environment with student performers, so vibrations can be distracting. Afterward, discuss what you saw with a friend or check if the department hosts a post show discussion.
