Michigan Renaissance Festival - Festival Friday
About this event
A special Festival Friday opening of the 16th-century-inspired village featuring jousting, artisans, and themed entertainment.
What to Expect
- 1.Arrive when gates open at 9 am to beat the rush and catch the opening joust and early shows; the festival runs until 7 pm so wear comfortable shoes for a full day of walking and wandering the 16th century village.
- 2.Walk the grounds at your own pace since the whole site is a lively walk through with actors and craftsmen in period garb; you can pop in and out of stages and stalls as you wish.
- 3.Bring cash for artisan stalls and be prepared for lines at popular food stands; many vendors still prefer cash even at this big festival.
- 4.Plan a couple of must see moments like the joust or a specific stage show and map out where they happen; the festival is spread across multiple stages and yards.
- 5.Hydrate, pack sunscreen, and bring a light bag; there are plenty of photo opps with knights and costumed performers but you might want to rest in shaded areas between events.
