The 2026 Oscar Nominated Short Films: Animation and Live Action

About This Event

A special presentation of the year's Oscar-nominated short films in the animation and live-action categories.

What to Expect

• 1.Arrive 20–30 minutes early to snag parking and a good seat—the Detroit Institute of Arts can get crowded for Oscar-nominated shorts.
• 2.The program usually splits into two blocks, Animation first and Live Action second; note the order so you don’t miss your favorites.
• 3.If you need accessibility help, contact the venue ahead of time to arrange captions or an assistive listening device.
• 4.There’s a café and galleries at DIA, so plan to grab coffee or a bite before or after; leave the big snacks at home and follow theater rules in the auditorium.
• 5.Parking around Woodward can be tight—give extra time, consider rideshare, and use the museum garage if available.
