Weekly Volunteer Hours
What to Expect
- 1.You'll be doing hands-on farm chores like weeding, bed prep, pruning, and mulching; tasks rotate, and you'll be assigned on-site.
- 2.The crowd is friendly and collaborative, with neighbors and fellow volunteers from Keep Growing Detroit; it feels like a community effort more than a formal class.
- 3.Dress in layers and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes; there can be dirt, mud, and evening chill since you're outdoors for much of the shift.
- 4.Bring a water bottle and a small flashlight for after-dark tasks; check in with the volunteer coordinator when you arrive and follow the posted schedule.
- 5.If you're new, you'll be welcomed—ask questions, and you’ll be paired with an experienced volunteer who can show you the ropes.
