Wisdom: Chess

About This Event

Chess every Wednesday at Valade Park with Wise Guys Chess Club. All ages and experience levels welcome.

What to Expect

• 1.When you show up, expect a casual, drop-in vibe with rotating chess games at tables around the park; you’ll likely play a few quick practice games or join longer matches with players of similar skill.
• 2.If you’re new to chess, seek out the Wise Guys Chess Club hosts—they’ll pair you with a patient partner and explain the basics so you’re not left guessing.
• 3.Since it’s outdoors, bring water, dress for the weather, and consider a portable chair or blanket—Valade Park is a spacious, public setting.
• 4.This isn’t a formal tournament; it’s a friendly community scene where you can chat, trade tips, and watch a few games between rounds.
• 5.Plan to arrive a bit early or stay a bit late to meet people; the weekly nature of Wisdom Wednesdays makes it a great way to build a local chess circle.
