Detroit Kite Festival

About This Event

Watch colorful kites fill the sky along the Detroit riverfront with hands-on activities and entertainment.

What to Expect

• 1.Arrive a bit early to grab a good spot along the riverfront and expect lots of sun and breeze, so wear breathable clothes and sunscreen plus a hat.
• 2.Head to the hands-on kite activities and flight demos; there are kid-friendly stations and chances to fly a kite if you brought one.
• 3.Parking and transit can get tight near the riverfront, so consider rideshare or public transit and give yourself extra time before the 10 AM start.
• 4.There’ll be on-site food and drink options, plus plenty of water—pack snacks for kids and stay hydrated throughout the day.
• 5.Bring your camera for the colorful sky and skyline shots, but keep an eye on crowds and follow event staff directions around the flight zones for safety.
